Course description Seed biology is the study on the characteristics and life process of plant seeds and the principle of seed storage and processing. It is one of the key courses for the major of seed science and engineering. Experiments of Seed Science 1 is offered in combination with key experiments of Seed biology. This course covers 7 key seed biology experiments for students mastering basic experimental techniques and research methods of seed biology. 3. Design of each teaching section Experiment 1 Seed Morphology Identification Experiment Type: Specialized Experiment Teaching hours: 2 Basic components: This experiment requires students to understand the main characteristics of major crop seeds by observing external morphology, and use these features to identify seeds. Laboratory opening: No Experiment 2 Seed Equilibrium Moisture Content Determination Experiment Type: Specialized Experiment Teaching hours: 2 Basic components: This experiment requires students to possess the method of seed EMC determination, and have a further understanding the rules of seed moisture absorption changes under different storage conditions. It can helps to manage seeds in warehouse timely. Laboratory opening: No Experiment 3 Seed ATP Content Testing Experiment Type: Specialized Experiment Teaching hours: 2 Basic components: In this experiment, students are required to understand the principle of ATP fluorescence measurement, and master the methods and procedures. Laboratory opening: No Experiment 4 Seed Aging Experiment Experiment Type: Specialized Experiment Teaching hours: 2 Basic components: Require students to know the principles and considerations in seed aging, master seed aging methods and operating procedures. Laboratory opening: No Experiment 5 Seed Vigor Test Experiment Type: Specialized Experiment Teaching hours: 3 Basic components: Require students to understand commonly used methods for seed vigor test, and determinate seed vigor in cotton by cold germination test. Laboratory opening: No Experiment 6 Seed Conductivity Measurement Experiment Type: Specialized Experiment Teaching hours: 2 Basic components: This experiment requires students to know the principle of conductivity measurement, the usage of conductivity meter and standard methods for seed conductivity determination.
